KSFIC Policies


Procurement of wood

  • Timber is procured from known and sustainably managed sources only.
  • Our structural timber is sourced to naturally grown trees in forests.
  • Secondary wood (plantation timber) is used only after treated and seasoning.
  • We use solid wood in our products unless the customer demands otherwise.

Procurement of other products

  • We procure products gathered from forest areas by local people.
  • Only materials of known location and proven quality are traded.
  • The materials are subject to primary processing such as drying, grading, powdering, packaging etc., as may be appropriate.


  • Our services are quality tested and certified by independent third parties.

Product Specification

  • Logging services and specifications of timber, billets, pulpwood and firewood are as per the specifications laid down by the Karnataka Forest Department. Standard wood works and furniture items are as indicated in the product catalogues. Customized furniture is manufactured as per the requirement.
  • Raw drugs sold conform to the standards laid down in ------------
  • Edible items like honey conform to FPO standards
  • Other minor forest products conform to the purchasers’specifications.
  • We encourage customers to see our products and then place orders.
  • Customers can book their goods and services at any of our Divisional Offices.
  • No orders will be handled at the Corporate Head Office.

Total Quality Management

  • We follow total quality management principles.
  • All efforts are made to meet the requirements of each and every customer to his/her/their satisfaction.
  • Quality, quantity and workmanship of our wooden articles are guaranteed. They carry 10 years’ warranty.Minor defects if any will be corrected. The product will be replaced without any extra cots if any major defect is found.
  • We use the hardware according to the choice of the customer. The company concerned will provide warranty/guarantee for the hardware.
  • For non-timber forest produce, the warranty is limited to 30 days or before use of the product whichever is earlier. If there are any problems, replacement will be provided.


  • Because of assured quality, quantity, genuine inputs, workmanship etc., our prices are marginally higher than the prevailing market prices.
  • There are no fixed prices for our wooden products. Prices are determined based on the customers’ specifications, choice of wood, workmanship involved, transportation etc. Every customer should negotiate the price for his items.
  • Previously agreed price will not hold if the customer modifies his specifications when the manufacturing work us underway. They have to be freshly negotiated.
  • Prices indicated are only company costs. Taxes will be extra.
  • All taxes are to be borne fully by the customers and paid at the time of taking delivery of goods or availing services.
  • Prices are firm. No discounts are offered on the negotiated price. However, the Managing Director reserves the right to offer discount in exceptional cases.

Terms of Payment

  • For goods, 50% of the total cost has to be paid as advance while booking.
  • 40% of the total cost has to be paid once the goods/products are inspected and accepted by the customer but before shipment.
  • Balance 10% is to be paid after the products are delivered and after their inspection by the customer.
  • At the discretion of MD, KSFIC may vary the terms of payment.

Customers’ rights

  • Customers are free to visit our offices, factories, plants and other facilities with prior appointment.
  • Customers are entitled to inspect their products at different stages of manufacture as per company rules and seek modifications if needed.
  • In respect of services offered outside KSFIC premises, on site photo gallery and videos are displayed. Customers can also physically see them if they want.

Return Policy

  • Goods once sold and taken out of the KSFIC premises will not be taken back or exchanged unless they were found to be defective.
  • Services once consumed shall have to be paid for in full. For service deficiency if any, remission in the charges at the discretion of KSFIC will be offered.

Grievance Redressal

  • We strive to achieve customer satisfaction to the fullest extent possible.
  • If any customer is not satisfied at any stage, he/she/they may trigger the complaint/grievance redressal mechanism as laid down in our Citizens’ Charter. Dispute will be settled accordingly.


  • Being a government undertaking, KSFIC is a fair employer.
  • Provides for equal opportunities for different categories of persons and pays equal wages to both men and women.
  • Only critical posts are filled by permanent employees. The rest are based on contracts or job working or piece work rates.
  • Labour laws and welfare measures are fully implemented for the causal and contract labour force.
